Urban School Superintendents: Characteristics, Tenure, and Salary (Eighth Survey and Report) - Urban superintendents have become more diverse, according to a recent survey by the Council of the Great City Schools (CGCS). Black and Hispanic superintendents represent a little more than half of respondents. The average tenure of the immediate past CGCS superintendents was 4.5 years, while their average salary in 2013-2014 was $242,000. (Council of the Great City Schools, November 2014)...

2013 Superintendents Salary & Benefits Study - The second Superintendents Salary & Benefits Study is out and superintendents will be interested to see where they stand on the salary spectrum. Males superintendents outnumber females by slightly more than three to one, but in most cases, females have a slightly higher median income. Nearly half of respondents view their districts as economically stable while more than four in 10 believe their districts are in decline. (Robert S.
