Since 2019, Education Commission of the States has tracked more than 600 bills, present in nearly every state, related to student mental and behavioral health. More than 30 states have enacted at least 72 of those bills. This Policy Brief explores trends in this legislation, with particular attention to how the COVID-19 pandemic has intensified mental health challenges for students.
